2010 Japanese Garden Symposium in San Diego

    The 6th International Symposium of Japanese Gardens will be held in San Diego, from October 2-4, 2010 by the International Association of Japanese Gardens, Inc. and The Garden Society of Japan. The event will be hosted by the Japanese Friendship Garden Society of San Diego.

 

    There will be optional garden tours to Los Angeles on October 5 and 6. The theme of the 2010 Symposium is " The Spirit of Japanese Gardens and Japanese Culture." The thrust of the Symposium is to show and relate the cultural aspect and its connection to the principles of Japanese Garden design and concepts. 

   

    The organizers are hoping to have speakers from Japan, the U.S., and around the world. They are also planning an extensive demonstration with hands-on opportunity for a select few chosen through a lottery system where participants will work with professional in acquiring techniques on pine pruning, stone work, etc.
